It’s Jewish Tradition to give your child a Hebrew Name. For boys, the Hebrew Name is given the day of the “Bris”, on the 8th day of the child’s life. For girls, the Hebrew name is given in the synagogue, when the parents are called to the Torah and a blessing is said for the child. There is no set timeline for the girls but generally it’s within the early party of the infants life.

For our first daughter, Princess M, we scheduled her baby naming when she was 3 months old!  The name we gave her was from her paternal great-grandmother, Frayda Chana.  Since the actual baby naming was during the traditional Shabbat service (which runs long); we decided to host a celebratory lunch the next day on Sunday.  It was a collaborative effort with my in-laws and it turned out fabulous! They provided the food and drink and I provided the decor! My BFF flew all the way out from California to be here for the big weekend and she helped us pull it all together! maddies-2nd-bday-015M turns 2! I can’t believe how time flies!  My baby is officially turning into a little girl. We were so excited this year because M has so many new and wonderful friends to celebrate with. I had to decide what to do for her 2nd birthday and of course obsessed over it forever until I came up with a plan. I decided this year that I needed something practical and that I wanted to steer clear of having her party at our home. We ended up booking at “My Gym”, a fun place where the kids can really let loose, play on fun gymnastics equipment, and sing along with the “My Gym” friendly staff. But “My Gym” does not bode well for a real decorative, table finished party. I had to focus my creative compulsion elsewhere!  Enter-party favors!

Now, you can definitely go crazy with favors and I am one of those that really have to reign myself in to make sure that I don’t go overboard. The world of kid favors in our area is a booming business and they always come out beautiful….but it comes with a price. I really wanted to have a fun personalized favor without the hefty price tag. So, I decided that I can DIY!  I searched and searched and found a great place in our area for discount items, Amazing Savings. I found an art smock, pencil holder, chalk, and paint markers! The final cost per favor…….ta da ta da….$1.90!!  Fun, affordable, and practical too!  The only thing that I needed was to buy the paint pens.  Although these are not that cheap, they were worth the investment.  I have since used them to DIY many gift items (which I will blog about later)!

I have to thank my friend JJ!  If I am stuck for inspiration, she is my go to girl to call on, so creative and talented! She helped me with all of these favors! Thank you JJ, you are amazing!

My friend Phyl recruited me to help with her daughter’s bridal shower.  I was very excited and was instantly obsessed with finding the perfect theme!  I have always loved the color “Tiffany Blue” and have wanted to throw a party with this color as the main theme.  Phyl fell in love with it too and thus we began the planning stages.  But as I started to research I decided that I wanted to take a more modern approach and pair it with something fun—BLACK!  Adding black and white gave this color scheme the modern boost it needed and it turned out so beautiful! I can’t wait to use this combination again!  Enjoy!

brid-shwr-011We really wanted to do an overlay but couldn’t find a black and white print we loved. It became clear that finding a fabric and having it sewn was proving to be costly. We decided to do a play on an overlay and still have enough to add a splash of the color we needed! A friend of Phyl’s sewed these for us!

brid-shwr-023We picked up these Blume Boxes and attached pictures of the Bride to Be with from her childhood along with some ribbon. We then had a florist create this beautiful centerpiece to pull it all together.  We thought we would recycle the boxes and use them for a future party but they were such a hit that the guests were sneaking out with them.

We added some additonal seating in the form of club chairs. I sewed up some little throw pillows and gave it a splash of color!

brid-shwr-013We found these adorable boxes with ribbon from Sophie’s Favors.  We then made the favor tags and filled the boxes with goodies. Bath and Body soaps and lotion!  They were not only a fun and great favor for the guests but were also used to add more of the Tiffany Blue to the table.

Valentine’s day is here!  We wanted to keep it very simple this year. We look forward to when we are all home together on the weekend and have breakfast together in the morning. Today was even more special because it was a Valentine’s Breakfast! The breakfast was delicious and the day was as sweet as we could ask for!  Sometimes simple is better and much more rewarding!

I never miss out on an opportunity to dress a table. I searched through my craft closet and found what I needed.  Simple scrapbook paper and flowers gave the table a touch of the Valentine’s Day love.  I learned this tip through HWTM blog, she has great ideas on how to use scrapbook paper to dress a table.

At play-group my friend had the kids do a fun Valentine’s Day art project; a sweet frame for their Dads.  They had such a blast doing it!  I then had Maddie make a card to go with it.  Daddy loved it!
