Super Hero Girls

While I was in the planning phase of Princess M’s party she told me that she wanted to be a super hero.  I laughed and said well we are not changing your party now but how about I make a super hero costume as a birthday present for you? She agreed and proceeded to tell me exactly what she wanted the costume to look like.  I tried and tried to find time to get the costume done before her birthday but with all of the other projects and things going on, I came up short. Luckily she didn’t fret too much but she didn’t stop asking me about it either. “Mama, are we going to make my super hero costume now?”

Since Firecracker’s birthday is right around the corner and since I saw this inspiration from Tortoise and the Hare via Ashley Ann on her blog, I thought now was a good time. I chatted with Firecracker about her party and asked her if she wanted a super hero theme and she said, YES!  Although she was very clear that she wants a purple costume, I couldn’t find any that would work. I thought I would just give the costumes a trial run for their Purim celebration at school. For her actual birthday I will get to work on finding that perfect purple fabric and leotard.

Although I don’t think she is sweating it too much……………………………………

We went out so I could capture the girls in their costumes. The recent time change really helped, we had just enough light to get them done.  With my new toy and a high ISO, I was so happy with the images.

In case you were wondering why we nicknamed them Firecracker and Princess, here is why.

When we decided to go outside to take photos they were both very excited, out the door running with capes flying in the wind.

But it didn’t take long….

As I was photographing Firecracker running around being silly…..

I looked up just in time to capture this.

Princess M running back inside.

“I am cold mama!”

She was back in as quick as she was out.

It kinda was cold but that’s why these two girlies are so different…..

Firecracker—-she ran, she peeked, she took on the cold in one single bound.

Around trees, through the grass, and on the dirt…she flew and flew.

And Princess…..well she was in her comfort zone, watching from the window. (She gets that from me 🙂

Super Hero Party here we come!
