butterfly birthday–a look back!

Miss M is turning 3 next month! I can’t even believe it!  And of course turning 3 means another party!  I vowed that this year I was not doing a party. I was doing a repurposed, no gift, play group only, no frills, no fuss kind of day.  I was determined to keep it that way. Well it looks like my level of determination needs some work.  Although I am keeping the party to just M’s playdate (she hasn’t been doing well in large groups)…..I can’t help the rest. I need to plan and do more! Why?  Because I have issues. I have obsessive, compulsive issues. So let the planning begin.  Although I have not ironed out the details, I will tell you that it will involve pretty princesses and handsome knights! Exciting right?  In the meantime, here is a look back at M’s 1st Birthday Bash!

She had 2 celebrations. The first one was with family on vacation in California. I was a bit crazy. Very pregnant and I handmade almost everything for the party. My suitcases were full of things that I brought with me to pull it all together!

My first attempt at a fondant cake, pretty lame, but still cute!

And then we had another celebration at home!

My 2nd attempt at a fondant cake, a little better….

In case you missed the 2nd Birthday, you can check it out here.

tutu terrific!

Remember I said I had a brilliant little model to show off my tutus? Well it turns out I have 2! Thanks to my 2 friends for letting me show how adorable their Princesses are in my tutus.

Here is my Minnie Mouse girl!

And the 1st Birthday Princess!

I lied, I have one more!  My own. Princess “M” would not take off this filled tutu that I made for a client!

The day is always a little brighter in a Princess Tutu!

some crafty things for the craft/sewing room

Here is a sneak peak at some of the things I am working on to organize my new space. The studio is almost done. The paint is up, the furniture is back in place. But now I am digging out of boxes. I didn’t realize how much stuff I had. I think I will have to add to my 2010 New Year’s list–#37 –Do not buy anything crafty/sewy related. I am pretty sure I have it all.  Anyways, back to the topic. I have been working on a few projects for the new digs. Check them out!

I decided I wanted to give this pin board a fresh look.

I used some of Heather Bailey’s Nicey Jane fabric, I love this collection!

Lil S decided to help mama out.

I love the new look.

I wanted to update this space a bit too, so I did.

I picked this up from Ikea, the infamous Kira Chest. I decided to trick mine out too (most people do). Want a great tutorial on how to do this? Check this one out here.

And then decided to pimp out these baskets too.

It’s amazing what a little modge podge, spray paint, and some of Heather’s Fabric can do! I still have to sew the liners for the other two baskets but I ran out of fabric. I found a great tutorial here.

I have been wired for sound.  I can craft/sew/create with my country music blasting!

Wait till you see what we have in store for this bad boy!

I will give you a hint…it involves Honey-Do!

PS…the studio is my January OPAM. I have lots more to do in the new space so it might carry over to February but I am very happy about what I have done so far. Little bits here and there. I have to wait for the Nicey Jane collection to go on sale because I need lots more yardage for more projects!  I had picked up some samples and that’s what I used for these smaller projects.  So if you hear anything or see anything then let me know!
